In 2023, the biogas power generation project at a farm in Bangladesh was officially launched. This innovative initiative, which combines environmental and economic value, has injected strong impetus into the sustainable development of local agriculture and become a vivid practice in the transformation of rural energy in the country.
Every link in the project advancement is filled with the professionalism and dedication of the builders. At the site of the generator set installation and commissioning, a group of technical personnel and farm workers stood around the equipment, closely monitoring the debugging of various parameters. People sometimes bent down to observe the instrument data, and sometimes whispered to exchange technical details, ensuring that this core equipment can operate stably in the future. This scene not only shows the power of teamwork but also highlights the strict control over project quality.
The installation of the desulfurization system is also a key link in the project construction. In front of the two sets of desulfurization tanks, two technical personnel are cooperating tacitly: one person stands on the ground to steadily hold the raw material bag, and the other climbs up the temporarily built stairs to carefully fill the desulfurizer into the desulfurization tank. The precise operation ensures the desulfurization effect and lays a foundation for the efficient utilization of biogas in the follow-up. Such a rigorous process is not an exception. The two sets of desulfurization systems finally presented in the project are neatly arranged on the farm, with one end connected to the biogas digester, the core of gas production, and the other end leading to the generator set, forming an important hub for energy conversion, fully demonstrating the standardization and efficiency of the project construction.
The person in charge of the project introduced that the project makes full use of a large amount of agricultural waste such as straw and livestock manure generated daily on the farm as raw materials. Through scientific fermentation technology, biogas is produced, which is then converted into electricity by the generator set, realizing a closed-loop ecological chain of "turning waste into treasure". From the perspective of actual operation effect, the benefits are very significant. In terms of energy supply, the generated electricity not only meets the electricity needs of the farm's own irrigation equipment, lighting systems and feed processing machinery, but also the surplus electricity is transmitted to surrounding farmers through the local micro-grid, effectively alleviating the problem of power shortage in rural areas. According to statistics, the average daily power generation of the project can reach 5760 kWh, and the annual power generation is stably above 1.728 million kWh.
The successful operation of the project has also brought positive economic impacts to the local area. On the one hand, the farm has reduced energy costs through self-use of electricity; on the other hand, the sale of surplus electricity has increased additional income for the farm. At the same time, the construction and maintenance of the project have also provided employment opportunities for surrounding villagers and driven local economic development.
Local agricultural department officials spoke highly of the project, believing that it provides a replicable and promotable model for promoting clean energy and realizing agricultural modernization in rural areas of Bangladesh. In the future, with the implementation of more similar projects, rural areas in Bangladesh are expected to take greater strides on the road of green development, allowing ecological dividends to benefit more farmers.
