In today's society, the stability of power supply is crucial for various industries. China IV generator sets, as important equipment for emergency or backup power, require scientific use and comprehensive maintenance. This article will detail the key points of using and maintaining China IV generator sets from five aspects: pre-startup preparation, startup operation, in-operation monitoring, shutdown operation, and maintenance.

1. Pre-startup Preparation: Meticulous and Thorough to Ensure Safety

Pre-startup preparation is the foundation for ensuring the normal operation of generator sets. Firstly, checking the fuel system is essential. Ensure that the fuel tank has sufficient fuel to prevent air suction; at the same time, select the appropriate fuel grade according to the ambient temperature to avoid fuel waxing. Checking the cooling and lubrication systems is equally important. Ensure that the coolant and oil levels are within the normal range and that the oil quality is good without any leakage. Additionally, checking the electrical system, including battery voltage, terminal condition, and control panel indicators, is crucial to ensure everything is normal. Finally, inspect the generator set's appearance and safety facilities, clean dust and oil stains, confirm that the anchor bolts are not loose, and that the generator set is properly grounded.

2. Startup Operation: Follow Standard Procedures to Ensure Smooth Startup

Startup operation is the first step in running a generator set and must be carried out strictly according to standard procedures. In cold environments, pre-install a fuel heater or use low-temperature oil to ensure smooth startup. When starting, first open the fuel valve, set the control panel switch to the "RUN" position, and then preheat (if the ambient temperature is low). After preheating, turn the key to the "START" position to start the engine and release it immediately after startup. After successful startup, let the generator set run idly for 3-5 minutes and check if the instrument parameters are within the normal range, such as voltage, frequency, oil pressure, and coolant temperature. After confirming that the generator set is running stably, gradually close the circuit breaker or perform ATS-end power distribution operations.

3. In-operation Monitoring: Real-time Attention to Ensure Safety and Stability

Real-time monitoring during generator set operation is key to ensuring its safe and stable operation. Regularly record key parameters such as voltage, frequency, oil pressure, and coolant temperature to promptly detect any abnormalities. At the same time, listen to the generator set's operating sound to determine if there are any abnormal noises, such as metal knocking or sharp whistling. Additionally, ensure that the generator room is well-ventilated to prevent exhaust gas accumulation; do not disassemble components or perform maintenance operations while the generator set is running to prevent safety accidents.

4. Shutdown Operation: Proceed in an Orderly Manner to Avoid Equipment Damage

Shutdown operation also needs to be carried out in an orderly manner to avoid equipment damage. For normal shutdown, gradually unload the load, set the control panel switch to the "STOP" position, and let the generator set run idly for 3-5 minutes before shutting it down. Then, close the fuel valve (for standby generator sets) and record the operating hours. In emergency situations, such as low oil pressure, high coolant temperature, or abnormal generator set speed, immediately press the "Emergency Shutdown" button, cut off the load, and turn off the fuel throttle to ensure personnel and equipment safety.

5. Maintenance: Regular Maintenance to Extend Service Life

Maintenance is an important measure to extend the service life of generator sets. During daily inspections, clean dust and oil stains on the generator set's surface, clean debris from the radiator filter; check the fuel, coolant, and oil levels and quality; confirm the battery voltage and terminal condition. Regular maintenance includes replacing lubricating oil and filters, checking valve clearances, and cleaning fuel injectors. Additionally, perform seasonal maintenance according to seasonal changes, such as replacing low-temperature fuel and oil before cold seasons and cleaning debris from the radiator's exterior before hot seasons. For long-term shutdown, drain the fuel and coolant, and start the generator set once a month to keep the components lubricated.

In conclusion, the scientific use and comprehensive maintenance of China IV generator sets require meticulous pre-startup preparation, standard startup operation procedures, real-time in-operation monitoring, orderly shutdown operations, and regular maintenance. Only in this way can generator sets play their maximum role in critical moments and provide stable and reliable power support for various industries.
